Dr. Jian Ji is currently a Distinguished Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at Hohai University, China. He earned his PhD from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2012.
His research interests include numerical analysis of geotechnical problems with probabilistic considerations, slope stability and landslide susceptibility analysis, and data-centric geotechnics using AI and machine learning.
He received the 2018 Outstanding Paper Award and the 2022 Scott Sloan Best Paper Award, both from the international journal Computers and Geotechnics (Elsevier). He was also recognized with the Top Teaching Achievement Award from Hohai University and the Second Prize of Natural Science from the Ministry of Education of China.
Dr. Ji serves as an Associate Editor of Advances in Civil Engineering and an Editorial Board Member for journals including GEOAI, Computers and Geotechnics, and Marine Georesources & Geotechnology. He is an elected ASCE member, a technical committee member of ISSMGE TC201 and TC304, and a member of the Australian Geomechanics Society.
