Community trust

Initial statement

Accessibility is part of the product.

The hub is being built toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA and will continue to improve as content, media, forms, and event information are added.

Current design commitments

  • Semantic page regions, ordered headings, and a skip link.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation, controls, filters, and accordions.
  • Visible focus indicators and status labels that do not rely on color alone.
  • Responsive layouts designed to reflow without horizontal page scrolling.
  • Readable text sizing, spacing, and contrast.
  • Reduced animation for visitors who request it.
  • Accessible HTML as the primary source for essential program information.

Media and documents

Informative images should include meaningful alternative text. Decorative images use empty alt text. Videos selected for publication should include captions, and important recordings should include transcripts where feasible. A PDF will not be the only source for essential agenda, travel, or participation information.

Known limitations

This is an initial site. Automated and manual accessibility review will continue, especially after search, external forms, video, detailed schedules, downloadable documents, and richer interactive features are introduced.

Feedback

If something prevents you from accessing content or completing a task, email xincwei@umich.edu with the page address, the problem, and your preferred way to receive the information. Do not include sensitive disability or health details in ordinary email.
