SPARK is being designed primarily for current and alumni Schmidt AI in Science Fellows across scientific fields and levels of AI experience.
Intended audience
The program is not centered on one discipline, one AI method, or one career path. It is designed to help participants learn from different forms of expertise.
Researchers seeking practical tools, broader collaborations, mentorship, and pathways from scientific work to real-world impact.
Community members who can share career experience, domain knowledge, relationships, and lessons from different sectors.
Selected collaborators who can bring real needs, institutional context, implementation experience, and partnership opportunities.
What we expect to ask
The following categories illustrate the information likely needed to create a balanced and useful cohort; they are not an open application form.
Scientific area, experience with AI, current research, and what research translation means in your setting.
Methods, practical skills, collaboration questions, career interests, and the kinds of projects you want to explore.
Knowledge, lived experience, datasets, problems, partnerships, or community perspectives you could bring to the group.
Planned dates: March 7–12, 2027 (tentative), in Ann Arbor, Michigan. March 7: participant check-in only. March 8–12: main program. Dates, eligibility, cohort size, specific venue, travel support, accommodation support, selection criteria, and application deadlines await final confirmation.
Please wait for official details. Do not make travel arrangements or submit sensitive information by email. Applications, mentorship preferences, travel, dietary information, and accessibility requests will use an approved secure form rather than this public repository.

Until a mailing-list form is approved, you can contact the organizing team. Please send only your name, affiliation, and request for public program updates.
